So I got the idea from this site
that my friend linkified me a couple months back. I told him that I really wanted a A/V rack
to put my home theatre components in. I searched around for a while, looking for that perfect
rack that fit all my needs. I wanted one with adjustable shelves, all black or silver,
partially open rear, and a glass front....so basically, more of a cabinet than just a simple rack.
So I scoured the net looking for one. Spent a day researching and found some that were around 300+
dollars. So being the poor working man that I am, 300 dollars is a grip of cash... and I'd rather
take a trip to New York and see my buddy or buy another component for that matter...sheesh...
So I was distraught but not discouraged at this point. So I hit up the local stores and checked out
their A/V racks. To my disappointment, I came up with nothing... sigh...
So for a couple months... I had nothing... my 3 lonely components were just stacked on top of
each other. Finally, it looked like it was time to build it. My friend spec'd out his and I
came along for the ride and was gonna copy his. Unfortunately, he couldn't build his because
Home Depot didn't have a 4 foot pole that he could use... only 3 foot poles. So I took them,
bought my supplies, and thought I should probably spec it out. So in regular sam fashion, I
busted out an index card and started sketching out what I really needed.
Here's what I initially bought:
- 10 pieces of wood cut to 24x18
- one box of washers with 5/8" holes
- one box of nuts with 5/8" holes
- 4 threaded poles 5/8" thick
