  Utah - Park City!! 2009.01.15-18!

2009.01.16 Friday

Today was an AWESOME day... it was so awesome, I would call it LEGENDARY! We partied with an A-list celeb, got pulled over by the Utah state police, and ski'd our hearts out! Wonderful scenery, an awesome dinner with a great new friend, and fun fun, outrageous party fun times. Who got us into the hottest party at Sundance 2009!?! Who was puking their brains out at the end of the night!?! Who got us pulled over by the state police!?! MOLLY! She was defintitely our MVP for tonight!!!

So let's start with the beginning of the day. All of us said that we woke up throughout the night but we were forcing ourselves to continue to sleep because of the crazy late night we had last night. So we finally got up around 1130am. Evil Jean turned on the lights to my roomie (akiko) and my room and laughed at us while walking away. I yelled "I HATE YOU JEAN!" and she laughed even more. EVIL!!!

After mosy-ing around, Chris started cooking and I started washing dishes. According to Jess, the dish-washer wasn't working and she said both her and Akiko had tried it. So, we were C&C! Cook & Clean. He cooked, while I cleaned. Chris made us scrambled eggs with chopped green onions, hash browns, and orange juice (yes, freshly squeezed oj from a good ol' minute maid cartoon)! UMMMMM... breakfast of champions!

Jessica and Akiko went to the spa while Jean, Molly, Chris & I got dropped off at Park City again and we hit the slopes. We purchased twighlight tickets (1230pm - 730pm) so we could ski till the wee hours of the night. We started at the top of the mountain around 2pm and made our way down and around the easy slopes to start. Since Jean was a beginner boarder, we had to take it easy so she could hang with us. We went up the Crescent Hi-Speed Quad lift to the Bonanza lift and then up and down the silverlode lift. Now let me say... going from the crescent lift to the Bonanza lift was a pain in the butt. Being that we had two skiers and two boarders, the boarders were pissed off that the ground was so level that they couldn't glide down to the lift. Jean got pulled by Molly and I laughed my head off at Chris. But, we made it! and when we got there, we had fun going down Claim Jumper run and then going up and down the silverlode lift was awesome. We went down Parley's park and Prospector run. It was awesome!

But at 4pm, they close all of the lifts except for Payday run. So we had to journey from the right side of the mountain to the left side. For Jean, this proved to be quite a journey. I stayed with her so I could make sure that she wouldn't die along the way. All four of us started together and Molly and Chris went off while I stayed behind with Jean. We all said we would take Homerun down to the Payday lift and meet there. Every two minutes, Jean decided it was too hard and decided to sit down and relax for about five minutes. So that meant for every two we sat for five... eek! Yes, it took us long enough that grandpa Chris could use the facilites and blow his nose and Molly could have another one of her 30 minute conversations with her boyfriend Patrick. hahaha.

Molly and I went on one more run before she called it quits and I went on two more runs after that. Let me comment that going on those last two runs by myself was amazing. When I went down with Molly, I turned on Light the Fire Again on full blast and pumped myself up to speed down the mountain listening to that amazing drum beat. On the two runs I went on by myself, I listened to There Is None Like You and the mountain. Listening to such filling music calmed my heart and reminded me just how awesome God is. I really wish I had Creation Calls on my iPod at that moment so I could sing along aloud. The last run of the day for me, I just listened to the wind and the snow being sliced by my skis as I swished down the mountain. Peace, calm, excitement, power, hope, and happiness overwhelmed my entire body. Love. In the end, love.

I skied down to the bar which Chris and Jean were snacking and drinking with no Molly to be found. Jean called her and she had been on the phone for the last twenty some odd minutes. We then called Jess & Akiko to pick us up. We drank a little more and snacked on some nasty nachos & fries while we waited. They had just finished at the spa and were on their way. We dropped off the rental equipment and Jess drove us back to the condo.

On our way to the condo, we decided on eating at Connie's place, Kowloon Cafe, since she had texted Jean to come hang out in Salt Lake City. When we got home, it was about 6:20pm and we said we should get out by 7pm. We didn't leave the condo till 7:45pm. But, we made it to the restaurant after taking a slight detour.

Connie ordered all of our food for us and treated us like royalty. The food was delicious and we were all suffering from food coma. It was now decision time. Would we go out to party? Where would we go? What would we do!?! Connie gave us the option of going to a club in Salt Lake City that had 3 floors of fun. We could also hit up a house party at a friend's place she knew or a bar. But, we had one big party pooper in our group, Chris, and Jean was on the fence about going out or not. As was Chris' wife, Jess. BOOOO! Not wanting party poopers, we finally decided to go home and drop them off and then continue onward to our party destination. We came to the conclusion of going to partying on Main Street where the Sundance parties were going on.

Akiko, Jean, Molly and me decided to go and we took a few shots of coffee Patron before leaving. Being happily tipsy, we drove over to Main street. We started the party at Stienfeld fine art gallery to look for Akiko's coat. Apparantely in her drunken stupor the night before, she had left it there. She couldn't find it. We bought a round of tequilla shots (they appeared to be triple shots) and we downed them. So we left and took pictures outside.

Our second destination was supposed to be where Jean's friends were, but it was so cold we ended up stopping at Yuki Arashi Sushi for some hot sake. We drank two bottles of large sake and ate some edamame before leaving for our next destination.

Our thrid stop became Flanagan's. But before we went there, we tried to get back into O'Shucks. They claimed to have a $20 cover and so we refused to pay for it. Instead we went across the street and met Akiko's friend Frecks who was bartending there. This is when I stopped drinking so I could drive us back home. At Flanagan's the ladies drank a loooooooooooooot more shots and I downed good old coca cola. We closed down the place when they stopped serving alcohol at 1am.

The fourth destination was by chance. It was called Bangkok Thai and because Molly recognized it as the place we wanted to try out and eat, we went in and discovered a bar! I met an awesome drunk chic named Chelsea there and chatted up a storm with her. The ladies drank more shots and had a blast. I also discussed with Chelsea why she couldn't abandon her friend and she could care less if her friend slept with the guy she had just met. It was awesome. And then they called for last call at 1:30am.

We then bounced back to the Stienfeld gallery. At the door they refused to let us in and claimed they were closing so they could re-open for a private after party. Akiko ran in and said she had left her coat there and we tried our best to get in. They kept on refusing and wouldn't let us in. But Akiko came back and got the awesome bartender, Doug, to try to get us in. Unfortunately, no luck :( But, it was actually good that we didn't get in.

We walked down to Tao and tried to get in through the door. There were sooo many drop dead gorgeous girls standing around waiting to get in but they weren't letting anyone but listed guests in. Little did they know that we had a secret weapon. We first tried walking in through the side entrance where the coat check was. We thought we were so smart but apparently you needed a wrist band to get in. Not wanting to give up, Molly walked back to the front and found that the fenced off area had a hole. There was one guy blocking the door and she just wiggled in and told him we were going in. She used her "charm" on him and we were in! We danced our hearts out and the ladies continued to drink, drink, and drink more! We ended the night by going to the bathroom. Since we were right next to the parking lot, I brought the car closer to the exit. Upon coming back to the ladies bathroom, I discovered Molly being dragged out of the bathroom with a lady exclaiming "where are your friends!?!?!" I ran up and said "I'm here! I'm here" and apologized to the lady. I dragged Molly to the men's room and she threw up immediately. After she finished, I took her to the car and told her to stay put. I called Jean and Akiko to hurry up and they said they'd be out in a minute. Akiko comes out and yells "I JUST MET PARIS!!!!!" I yell back "WHAT!?!?!!" and she asks "do you want a picture with Paris!!!?" I, of course, being a picture whore yell YES! and we run back into Tao to get a picture. And thus, YAY! a picture with Paris!

And so we thought the night was over and we headed home. But no. Molly mumbles that she's not feeling well and I stop the car on the side so she can stick her head out and puke. While she's doing that, Akiko runs out to take a picture of her but a police car sees us and pulls up behind us and turns on his lights. I yell at Akiko to get back in the car and the police man walks up asking what was going on. I explain that I'm the DD and our friend is just really drunk and we're waiting for her to sober up. And Akiko yells that I just woke up and came to pick up the drunk girls. He understands (very very fortunate for us) and lets us get on our way.

We get home and Molly decides to make the toliet her god. She sits there worshipping it for the remainder of the night much to our chagrin. And thus... here we are now... heh heh... more to come tomorrow!
